The post I just finished about saving money and minimizing spending will be hard considering that I screw up washing my damn clothes. Hence this can be one of my reasons for continuously buying clothes. On Wednesday when I returned from Atlanta, Carly and I went to the laundromat down the street from our apartment. According to Carly, I don't know how to wash clothes which is a lie because I've been doing it a long time yet that doesn't mean that it's efficient washing. I for one cannot follow the laundry symbols. What exactly does all of that mean? I usually wash my clothes by temperature. Before I used to wash by color: whites, brights and darks. I usally still do that but its more of a mix. I was my clothes and then move toward the driers. I make sure to pull out clothes that don't need to be dried or at least I thought I did. When I finished drying my clothes, I found a few items that shrunk. I had a dark blue dress I wore to work would now be my dark blue shirt I can wear to work. I am a little sad that my dress shrunk. I wish there were ways that you could take a damaged item and rework them so they could be back in their normal state.
I know for a fact that will not happen but I did brainstorm ideas and even thought of my beloved Real Simple magazine to come up with a solution. For instance, I have a dress that I wore the Gala in Tennessee that I washed when I visited my father. I followed the directions of washing it in cold water and let it hang dry so I could prevent it from shrinking. When I took the dress out of the washer, I saw that it had looked as if I bleached it. It had light spots all over it. My first instinct was to throw the dress away but then I thought about dying it another color. In an old article of Real Simple it talked about dying clothes to revive them. I was thinking of taking my grey dress and making it a dark blue or just blue in general. I am excited to say the least to dye my dress (post coming soon) and also to get a little acquainted with better washing my clothes
