High Museum- ATL

December 19-23rd I was in Covington GA visiting my Dad. I was sick my entire time there except my last day. We went to the High Museum of Atlanta so I could see the Picasso to Warhol exhibit.

New York City Adventure

While on my one week vacation to New York, I spent a day in a half in the city. These pictures summarize my sights and activities I did.

Jessie Adore for Levi's

Jessie Adore of AdoreDAILY has a YouTube video. It might be an old one but I think it's extremely exciting to hear her talk since I've only seen her gorgeous pictures of her Hair and her distinctive style. Make sure to check her out! You won't be disappointed.

Don't call it a comeback!

" Pretending that we live doesn't make us alive."- Serj Tankian

Hello all!! I feel like it has been an eternity since the last time I blogged. So much for my life without blogging! I think it has been a whopping 4 months for self doubt, pity, laziness, and STRESS. I mean to add the capitals because my life has not been a damn crystal stair. For these past months, I have not been my normal self. I actually had to grow up in many areas of my life but still treated them as if I was a juvenile. I started to doubt my abilities and have become lazy as hell. From the past posts you can see the job I had before was less demanding which meant it was ok for me to take pictures in the bathroom and post them just so I could say I blogged for the day. Now a days I would say that the ending of my 2011 has been hell on Earth. Why I say this you ask? Well it's never a good sign for your boss to take you aside and ask "why do you want to be here?" Or ask "what happened to the enthusiastic person I had to hire the day I met her?" Needless to say I have been fucking up big time. I'm taking a needed hiatus from school to get my life together. I flunked out so I guess a hiatus is the reward I get. Everything just seemed to be coming quickly and fast. If I could describe it metaphorically it was like an avalanche of emotions. I felt depressed. At my peak one day and and then I hit rock bottom.

These past two weeks I had off from work, allowed me to evaluate what was important in my life. I guess reading quotes help me define or figure out what direction I want to head in. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said " If you cannot fly then run, if you cannot run then walk, if you cannot walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward." I've used this quote not only to find inspiration but also to let me know that I will and can achieve my goals it just depends on what road I take. I used these weeks to evaluate where my unhappiness came from and to think about what solutions I can take in order to progress forward. I found that I'm unhappy because I cannot do what I used to and haven't tried to find an outlet that I could use to make me feel better. I think what was missing from my equation was blogging and traveling. Besides the fact I hate my job, I've been thinking about how to make it work. How could I reduce my stress levels but work extremely hard and play hard as well? Though I shy away from a challenge, for 2012 I'm trying to get my priorities in order. So far I've started on a routine I hope will help (I'll discuss that later). So until I write again (in a few minutes), have a blessed New Year.

Christmas

Hey all!
Christmas was interesting. I got to spend time with family. We chilled, ate, joked, and watched the youngins (aka my brother, nieces and nephews) open their gifts. I even got to try one of our followers (Candace) sweet potato pudding *which was every bit of scrumptious!
Now its Monday-- time for work (sigh).

Thanksgiving Blast

Hello everyone!
I hope everybody's Thanksgiving was laid back, fun and family-oriented. I know today was Black Friday and most people tried to shop til they dropped. I already heard some of the tragedies that occurred in other cities. I hope all of our fam, followers, and friends were cautious and got the most out of their shopping.
Happy Holidays everybody! :) ;)

We went to Dave & Busters to celebrate. We ate, drank, and were very merry!
Today, I hope we can get together again for more fun times! Either way I will be enjoying my day off from work. Pix from this weekend comin soon!!!!

Fall Fun

Hey people! It is officially fall! The chilly air mixed with the humidity is very confusing to my dress code, mind and body. Nevertheless, I will prepare accordingly.
So, this weekend, while Chimi is off to NYC for a wedding, I was able to catch my nephew in action at his football game. It was a very cold (snapped my ass to the reality that its no longer summer), rainy, muddy, wet day yesterday. I was happy to support him and my sister.
Last weekend, I was also out celebrating my nephew's 6th Birthday. Go-Kart racing was a lot of fun. I felt like a kid again. Seeing all the kids around me growin up quickly reminded me that I'm gettin older. Even still, I had good laughs, surrounded by my family and friends!
The weekend before, I was able to catch Chris Brown in concert! While my day was hectic and I didn't get to wear what I wanted, Chimi and I had a blast at the concert and soon after, when we went to The Diner at Adams Morgan. Seeing drunk white people fight over a cab was priceless!
As Fall continues to make its presence known, I hope to have more fun to share!

Remembering September 11th

Ten years ago today, we experienced something so hateful, so sad, yet something that would bring us (Americans) together. On September 11, 2001, lives were changed. Pain and fear made their way into our homes-- into our worlds. I will never forget this day. I am stronger than I was when it occurred. Yet the pain is still there, the fear is still there-- the feeling of unity is still present.
I hope this day brings memories of good, brings the reminder that we must stand together as one people. Remember those who perished, seeing them for the good people they were. I never forgot, today is simply a 10-year reminder.

**Love, serenity, strength and prayers to everyone affected by the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.**

Irene...She's coming!!!

Good morning lovelies. Hurricane Irene is definitely on her way. This weekend, I had the grand idea to go to New York to venture out to the Afro Punk concert in Brooklyn. Besides the concert, I had a family gathering that I wanted to attend. Unknown  to me, I went to work with a large rolling bag and my essentials (underwear) that I needed for the weekend. I figured I wouldn't bring clothes with me because I could always shop in New York. My last hour of work, I received a tip from a co-worker to not go anywhere because New York was going to be shut down. I kept hearing the whole entire day about Irene who I didn't know existed until the last minute. I bought my ticket and then looked up what every one was talking about. From the MTA site, I gathered that New York would be shutting down at 12pm today, meaning I would have to stay my behind at my grandmother's house. Then to top that off, how would I get back to DC if the trains and buses weren't working? Bridges are also to be shut down because the wind will pick up to 60 mph. I'm so sad about my loss of adventure in the big city but much more happier to be sitting at my computer out of harms way. Damn you, Irene!!!

I watched a video recently about Irene's effect in North Carolina. She's a force not to reckoned with at this moment. Rain started falling in DC already.

Earthquake Continued (Chimi's thoughts)

Just like Carly, yesterday's Earthquake was the shake felt by the East Coast. Now that I actually read some states effected, I definitely should've reached out to family that live in NY and GA. Yesterday was very weird however. During the Earthquake, my building shook and you could see the lights that hung from the ceiling moving like a pendulum. I was calm however but ran out in the hallway to see what was wrong. At first I thought something fell off the wall.  My other co-workers were walking around asking were we okay. Bells sounded off throughout my building and I had to make sure that precious cargo left the building. My coworker however asked for her bag while I left all of my belongings on the table. Needless to say during the aftermath of the Earthquake, I didn't have any form of communication (beides the fact nothing was working but twitter). I was outside of my job for about two and a half hours in the damn heat. I took my glasses off to even out my tan. My feet hurt. My lotion slid off my legs making puddles. It was a hot mess literally. I had to stand outside of my work place because it was predicted that another tremor would come at 3:30pm but to no avail. I left work early for the first and probably last time of the whole year.

After leaving work early, I went out to Busboys and Poets to get some drinks and food with some of my co-workers. After the tremors, DC did not stop running. People were outside having a grand time like nothing ever happened. I'm just happy that I was calm throughout the whole ordeal.

Earthquake!!

Hello people!
After getting in home, I have had time to truly reflect on the impact that aftershocks of an earthquake had on me. As a Washingtonian, I have never experienced an earthquake or its aftermath. Needless to say, August 23rd, 2011 will be a memorable moment for me.

While at work, I experienced a shake that had me shaking and puzzled. Confused and feeling unbalanced, I had just experienced the aftershocks of an earthquake that occurred in Virginia. After finally evacuating the building, I was able to learn more about what had just occurred and how other states were affected. I did my best to check on my family members (having limited phone service). I am glad me and my family and friends were not harmed.

As I reflect on this event, it comes just days after I left Virginia (just posted about my fam trip). It made me realize that I need to be aware of emergency safety for all kinds of natural disasters. It also made me realize how dependent I am on my cell phone (which proved in an event like this not to be a grand source of communication). More importantly, it made me cherish and appreciate my loved ones even more (we tend to take our numbered days on earth for granted). In closing, I am surprised, yet grateful for this experience, for it has enlightened me and made me want to learn more and appreciate my life more as well.

Family Trip

Hey people!
As I am on my way back home from my family trip, let me give the rundown. Yesterday, I went to Virginia Beach. I was able to take in the salty waves as well as the sun. However, I was a bit nervous after seeing a 3- year-old suffer a seizure. Thank God he was okay.
After that, I went back in the water to see how far the waves would carry me. Running from waves with my sisters and brother, me and my glasses were unable to escape a huge wave. I came up from the push of two waves, but my poor glasses were lost at the beach.

Leaving (blindly) from the beach, we got some goodies (food). Snacking on funnel cakes, Blizzards, ice cream cones and hot dogs, we made our way back to Wyndham Resort where we headed straight to the pool. After swimming a little, we went to the arcade and back to the suite. Needless to say, I showered and took my blind ass to sleep.
Today, before making our way back to D.C., we went to a small (weak ass) amusement park. My nephews weren't able to ride much, even though they were at kiddie land. Nevertheless, we were able to go-kart race and the kids played at the arcade. Now, I'm back in my neck of the woods and can't wait to get home to get my old faithfuls (old spare pair of glasses). I had tons of fun! I hope this can be an annual trip. (Special shoutout to my Big Sis Crishana for putting this together for the fam!!)

Virginia Beach

Good morning people! Its a beautiful day for me and my family. We are enjoying a mini-vacay in Williamsburg, Virginia. Yesterday, we started out onour journey with a weeble-wobble ride down the road from Maryland to Virginia. We arrived with enough time to settle in at our suite at the Wyndham Resort.

After resting, we decided to get groceries for our stay. We shopped at Bloom (first timers) as if we were at Safeway or Shoppers back home, then ate a snack before heading to the pool. We only swam (I can't really swim, but whatever) for about 30 minutes. We were joined by two big joints who looked like they were tryna make mayonnaise in the pool. After they left, an attendant came to tell us that our brother couldn't be in the adult pool. So we left and went back to our suite.

After tryin some nasty ass wine/champagne which I thought were good selections, it was off to bed. Now, I am up and ready to see what Virginia Beach has in store for us. Hopefully I can do another post with more pix and details of our adventure!

Cupcake Party

[source]
Yay!!!! Chimi and Carly have reached 200 posts (201 actually). When we reached 100 posts, I stated that I would make cupcakes. I lied about the whole thing. I haven't baked in what seems like forever. I usually get the baking bug when I have to sell goods but I am going to have to bake some for Carly's sake. Congrats to us but most importantly thank you for supporting the site. The next celebration will have to be for 500 posts which can probably be a big shindig for next year.

Coley's Birthday Dinner

Yay!!!! Cuzin Coley had a birthday. On Friday, I had the opportunity of going to Fogo de Chao to celebrate my little "cousin's" birthday. Nicole, is one of my dearest friends from my 4 years of college. She is a mover, shaker and is extremely hard working. I love that girl dearly.

Friday was one of the best times I had all summer. Insomnia began my morning however. I went to bed at 4:15am and my alarm clock goes off at 5 (I definitely played myself). When the alarm rang I turned it off and continued to sleep. When I finally woke up it was 8 and I was supposed to meet up at 9:30. I rushed and called a cab. I was running around my apartment like a chicken with his head cut off. Grabbing things and placing them in my leather knapsack. The taxi dispatch called my phone around 8:50 to let me know my taxi had arrived. I got in and was on my way to Columbia Heights. When I got there, of course was rushing but when I got settled, I saw that no one else was moving. I took this as an opportunity to go to Target to buy snacks. We didn't leave until 10:20. My trip was fun at the water park hanging out in the lazy river, on the water slides and in the pool. This trip was what I needed. A whole day to go swimming. My trip was short lived however.

The Birthday Girl
After my trip I lallygagged a little until about 7:30 before coming to my Cuzin Coley's birthday dinner at Fogo de Chão. This a first at this restaurant. I actually got there very early and I sat at the bar trying to stall time. I wanted a mojito but the bartender insisted that I get a Caipirinha, a Brazilian drink. It was an OK drink but I would've been satisfied with a mojito. After being the first person at her party for a while, in walks another one of our friends, Texas. She was rushing and thought she was late. She was actually relieved that she made it on time. About 10 minutes later, Nicole walked in. After her arrival more of her invited guests started to show up. We were finally seated and were told about how Fogo operates. Salad bar, Meat buffet, and side orders. Drinks had to be paid for separately. The salad bar was lavish and filled with all types of things. I was warned not to fill up on the salad bar because when the meat would come I would be overwhelmed. I hadn't even starting eating before men with meat and knives started walking around. Filet mignon, chicken, lamb chops, pork sausage, filet mignon wrapped in bacon,  and the house special were on my plate before I touched my salad. I took my time to eat every morsel. I added fried plantains, and mashed potatoes to my plate to make sure I got my $50 worth. Fifty dollars is how much I had to pay for my food normally but because we wanted Nicole to have free food, everyone at the table had to pay $80 per plate. :(

I wanted to go home after her dinner but I went out for more drinks at Dupont Circle. We wound up at Midtown a multileveled bar with pricey drinks. We left Dupont for Adams Morgan and danced the rest of the night at Heaven and Hell. This was the first time in many years, I have seen so many people at this bar. It was a lot of fun to hang out with friends and hang out with the birthday girl.

Laundry Mishap

[source]
The post I just finished about saving money and minimizing spending will be hard considering that I screw up washing my damn clothes. Hence this can be one of my reasons for continuously buying clothes. On Wednesday when I returned from Atlanta, Carly and I went to the laundromat down the street from our apartment. According to Carly, I don't know how to wash clothes which is a lie because I've been doing it a long time yet that doesn't mean that it's efficient washing. I for one cannot follow the laundry symbols. What exactly does all of that mean? I usually wash my clothes by temperature. Before I used to wash by color: whites, brights and darks. I usally still do that but its more of a mix. I was my clothes and then move toward the driers. I make sure to pull out clothes that don't need to be dried or at least I thought I did. When I finished drying my clothes, I found a few items that shrunk. I had a dark blue dress I wore to work would now be my dark blue shirt I can wear to work. I am a little sad that my dress shrunk. I wish there were ways that you could take a damaged item and rework them so they could be back in their normal  state.
I know for a fact that will not happen but I did brainstorm ideas and even thought of my beloved Real Simple magazine to come up with a solution. For instance, I have a dress that I wore the Gala in Tennessee that I washed when I visited my father. I followed the directions of washing it in cold water and let it hang dry so I could prevent it from shrinking. When I took the dress out of the washer, I saw that it had looked as if I bleached it. It had light spots all over it. My first instinct was to throw the dress away but then I thought about dying it another color. In an old article of Real Simple it talked about dying clothes to revive them. I was thinking of taking my grey dress and making it a dark blue or just blue in general. I am excited to say the least to dye my dress (post coming soon) and also to get a little acquainted with better washing my clothes

Moving on Up

[source]

Morning. I'm starting to feel like a full grown adult. On Thursday, I went to school so that I could turn in paperwork that they needed. I was supposed to leave early in the morning so that I could do other things throughout the day but I wound up waking up at 12pm. I hurried to get out the house so that I could take care of my business. When I got to school, I was the third person in line at enrollment services. When my turn came up, I sat in the chair and spilled the beans about turning in paperwork and told the lady, I had issues trying to find a sign copy of my 1040 tax papers. She was about to send me off to find a signed copy, but the next question is what sparked a different response. I asked her about how to enroll in the automatic payments so I could pay for school out of pocket. She told me that if I wanted to just pay for my classes then I didn't need to come all the way up to school to do that. I could have enrolled and started paying already. For my last semester in Grad school, I would owe my school $6090 and that is not including books. For the first time in my six years in college, I am able to pay out of pocket for my education. I am excited about paying for it but also came up with ways that I could maximize my money to start my payments.

I was thinking of minimizing my spending. Majority of what I spend my money on is clothing. I really have an issue as far as clothes because I often buy clothes as a reward and even to change my mood. In sickness, happiness or sadness, I shop. Clothes has been a major issue and usually a topic I write a lot about but now my new obession is home decor. Carly and I have been living together for 2 years and I never have been so involved in decorating the house more than I have this summer. I think the extra income that I recieve from my new job has a lot to do with it. I doubled my salary which is a blessing but also my curse because I, Chimi am addicted to spending money. I think I need to attend Spenders Anonymous classes if they exist.  Another solution would be to wear what I have in my closet. If you were to comb through my closet you could see that I have clothes that still have tags on them. I have clothes I haven't wore in months. I always told myself I should have a sidewalk sale but usually, I donate my clothes to others or swap them. I am going to try very hard to keep from spending money once I start my payment plan. I am going to have to get used to paying school since I owe so much for my six years in college. Oy Vey!!!!

Jay-Z and Kanye West- Watch the Throne

[source]
This is the most anticipated album of the year. Rumors of two of the most influential rappers creating one CD has come true. In more of a tick for tack style of rapping, you hear J then Ye. This back and forth motion happens throughout the whole CD. The forerunner for this CD was "H.A.M." which I heard probably in January on Hot97. From there, I have been hooked on trying to see what the CD was about. The latest release of "Otis" sealed the deal however. I have never really been so antsy about a release in a long time. When I finally got the CD I made to get the deluxe edition for the additional tracks. Of the 16 songs on the CD I like 10 songs. As a review half of the CD is a great review in my opinion. Of those 10 songs, 1 is an honorable mention. I listened to the CD about five times since I got it and form opinions every time.

These tracks were just over the top for me. The beats of these tracks are bananas beside the fact that the lyricism was on point.

No Church in the wild- 808 and Heartbreaks feel. Infusion of rock for beat.
No Church In The Wild - Dehsinotsa by dehsinotsa

Lift Off- This song sounds epic. The addition of NASA made the song that much better. Great song from start to finish
Lift Off by OMFGOMFGMusic

Niggas in Paris- Beat is sick. The change at the end of the song kills it.
Jay Z & Kayne West - Niggas In Paris by modoodom

Gotta Have It- Infusion of James Brown.
Gotta Have It by OMFGOMFGMusic

Who Gon Stop Me- Chopped & Screwed background. So boastful. Straight stank face.
Who Gon Stop Me by OMFGOMFGMusic

Illest Motherf------- Alive- Ye kills this song
Illest Motherfucker Alive by BannanaStrings

The Joy- Infusion of Curtis Mayfield. Charlie Wilson doing adlibs
The Joy by halfchannel

Why I Love you so (Honorable mention)- I hated this song at first. After listening to it so many times, I listened to the lyrics.

Lonny Bereal feat. Kelly Rowland- Favor

Hello ya'll. It feels awesome to be back in my humble abode and sit at my computer. Writing about the random is definitely what I do the best. While on Youtube scoping some videos -I haven't seen,  I found Lonny Bereal. To some, you may not know who he is but he's an amazing vocalist. I got my taste of him live when he backed up Tank at a concert Carly and I went to earlier this year. He has a crazy range if you ask me. But enough about him and on to the song.

"Favor" is a song that I heard a while ago but the arrangement of people were definitely different. In this song, Chris Brown and Teyana Taylor accompanied Mr. Bereal and I have to say the result extraordinary. That song quickly became a favorite. A song to get dirty to. I know ya'll know what I mean by that. Fast forward to listening to this song currently. I am slowly becoming a Kelly Rowland hater. I know it's sad but yet so true. One of my favorite songs is ruined because she decided to add her little spin. Her notes are flat....Ay caramaba!!! What is to become of me? I need to listen to her album. Hopefully, that will make me love her again. Until then my thoughts will stay at the Player Hater's Ball.

For your listening pleasure, I added the Chris Brown version. After listening to both, let me know what you think.

Chris Brown- Boy in Detention

Hey ya'll... Just went around the blogosphere and found that Chris Brown has a new mixtape. I haven't formed any opinions yet, but I will definitely listen and tell you the notable tracks. Enjoy!!!

UPDATE: I actually had time to look over the mixtape and have a few songs that I feel made the cut.

Freaky I'm Iz- I like the beat to this song. This song is self explanatory. About how freaky the singers are the bedroom and how it would go down.
Spend it All- (Carly's favorite song) A song about spending money on a bootylicious stripper.
Private Dancer- Another song about a stripper that he wants to make a stripper his private dancer.
Leave the Club- Infatuation with mysterious person in the club. Falling in outside of the club.
Your Body- The beat does it for me for this song. Chris has an effortless flow.
Ladies love Me- Infusion of "Look at me now". Chris Brown and Justin Bieber flowing on a beat
Best Yo- I like this song.
Sweetheart- Carribean feel. A fall in love type song
Strip- A private strip show
Yoko- Asian sounding

ATL, GA

Good morning lovelies. I know I am behind in my posting but wanted to let you know what I've been up to.  I left Nashville on Friday on a very early flight. Fromn Nashville, I stopped in Chicago (O'Hare) before getting to the A. When I finally got there my dad was waiting at baggage claim, early as always. We drove around and picked up my stepmom from work. From that day forward, I have been a couch potato. I have been falling asleep on the carpet, couch, and taking that dreaded walk up the stairs to my room. We have been in the house watching movies and old classics like Good Burger, The Wayans Bros., and All That. I'm like excited to say the least. What was funny in the 90s still resignates. My father said I'm taking him back to my youth.

Yesterday however was a little different because I was wasn't on the couch. My father took me to Little Five Points, a little spot in ATL I heard about from a friend. Of course when I want to go somewhere new, I do some type of research. L5P, looks exactly like its pictures. It is filled with vintage shops and cute places to eat. I only got to experience it for a few hours before we had to pick up my step mother from work but I had a good time. We ate a place named Vortex which is a gaudy burger joint. We walked into a few vintage shops and I actually bought something from Rag-o-rama. I picked up 2 skirts and a bracelet.

Today, I am up bright and early because this is my last full day to spend in ATL. I am trying to figure out where to go. I told my dad I wanted to see the musuems and maybe some other historical stuff.  I'll give you an update on that a little later.

Nashville, Tennessee

(NOTE: This post was created August 1 and recently posted).

Good morning lovelies. I am currently in Nashville, TN for a summit for my job. So far it has been a blast. I have heard so much about my job being the "and all be all" and I actually got to see it in action. Over 2000 people from all over the country and world are here at summit. It was an overwhelming experience seeing how BIG of a movement my job really is. I am already thinking about summit for next year which will be in Orlando.

When I first started working at my job, the first thing I had to do was sign up for summit. All of expenses my wpaid for me to come to this week long professional development. The months in between have gone past extremely fast and I cannot believe I am actually here. My journey started out Monday morning to to an unfamiliar airport (BWI). My flight was supposed to leave at 2pm and it was delayed. The flight actually left Baltimore at 2:40 which I wasn't exactly happy with since I had another flight to catch in Atlanta. When I finally get to ATL, I had dash through the airport in order to catch my next flight. I was running like a chicken with his head cut off because, i didn't have the
boarding pass to my next flight. I thought all of my tickets would have printed out at BWI but they didn't. I walked up to a Delta clerk to help me and she told me where to catch my next flight. When I got to the terminal, they were already boarding. I stood in a long line with Standbys to get on the flight. They kept calling people for my flight and I was sweating bullets thinking about what would've happened if I got left. My thought process was getting the best of me as I was in line. So much negative skipped through my mind. When they called on me, I told them my situation and they found my ticket, asked for my ID and I was on the flight. I was literally saved by the bell. My flight reached TN at about 5:45pm. I had to go to baggage claim to pick up my bag and went on my merry little way to the hotel.

Kelly Rowland-Motivation (Live)

SMH.... I've been bamboozled. So like many people, I watched the BET Awards for the most part and thought one of the highlights was Kelly Rowland performing with Trey Songz. Trey's vocals was ehhhh but then Kelly came out and rocked the house. I mean my guy friend even had to gasp for air with that performance. It was phenomenal. So fast forward to a month later, she performs it live for Jay Leno and I am floored. This was her opportunity to carry the song by herself. No bueno. Of course I didn't expect her to sound the same as the BET Awards but at least sound great. I'm a little sad. I am rooting for her. I hated it. The breakdowns weren't helping. SMDH

Miguel- Quickie

Ok, so I have been a fan of Miguel since his release of All I want is you, his debut album. I even had the opportunity to meet him and he is a very humbled guy. To be honest I have no idea about this damn video. At first I was a little shocked thinking to myself that the video was a soft core porn. He is really giving up the SEX in this video. Then I had to rethink. Of course this song's video would be racy, its about a DAMN quickie. I guess what I envisioned for the video maybe wasn't pushing to envelope enough. Meeting a girl at a club, taking her back to the crib and calling it a night but the girl being gone in the morning. I mean that probably was boring thoughts compared to having women in garder belts and flapping ass cheeks but I digress. Is it safe to say that Miguel has a little sexy joint on his hands? Blogger's Obsession by MAC

Good morning. I am supposed to be packing for my trip to Tennessee today but I am too busy looking at this clip. While checking my 15000 (real number) e-mails, I came across one specifically from MAC. I haven't exactly purchased any MAC products, but I was interested in Pink Friday, the uber pink lipstick from Nicki Minaj. MAC however has a line/collection based on beauty bloggers. Interesting right? I don't think I would've taken notice to this had it not been for Afrobella. Afrobella, a blogger I follow because she is natural and has many ideas for hair regimes and styles actually has her own lipglass. All of my purple life , was inspired by the purple one himself, Prince. I had to post this video once knowing that. Prince is an all time favorite of mine, Go figure. Watch the excitement of other beauty bloggers as they take a trip to MAC to create their own makeup shades of glosses and eyeshadow.

Watch the Throne Documentary

Kanye West & Jay-Z: Watch The Throne Documentary from introspective on Vimeo.

When over at Necole Bitchie, she had this up. Had to take a peak. I'm wondering how EPIC this album is gonna be. Already heard two tracks (probably late cuz they have more) Otis and HAM. So far both go real hard. Otis which is the new track is soulful as ever. When a track makes the listeners say "Ohhh", you gotta hit. Watch the Throne will be out August 1 (digitally) and August 5 in stores.

Funny *Ish!!!!

Enjoy!

Amy Winehouse 1983-2011

[source]
Gone too soon. Amy Winehouse was pronounced dead this morning at her London flat. Amy better known for her album "Back to Black" was in the public eye with her many issues that overshadowed her music. This is very sad to see that she died. There has not been a statement released about her cause of death.

I can remember one of my college friends hipping me to Amy. I knew who she was but had not bought into the Soul from over seas. She burned me all of her material and I was hooked. I think "I'm no good" had to be my most favorite song from her besides "Valerie" which I am humming to myself as we speak. I

It is very sad how fame can become someone's personal demon. Money equates to having more issues when in the public eye. Amy's life was played in front of billions and not to mention her last appearance she was stammering drunk. I wonder if her last appearance is what set her off the edge? But who is to say it was fame that killed Amy?

Firecracker Friday!

Good mornin ppl!
I hope all is well with everyone out there. Since I am currently in my room, sufferin a slow death due to the heat, I've decided to take to the blog! It is so damn hot today, I am angry! Smh. Today is supposed to get up to at least 104 degrees! This sweltering heat is making me feel restless.
Nevertheless, I am up and wondering how my day will be. I have to work later. For now, I am tryin to keep cool (easier said than done). Its a Firecracker Friday! I thought yesterday was hot. Damnitttt! But I digress. I will make the most of my day and my weekend. Its summertime and heat is to be expected.
I hope everyone enjoys their day without faintin'!

There's POWER in your Rolling Hills

I cannot help but sing this song. Besides being on a strong Beyonce trip, Ms. Jilly from Philly had the number 1 album  a week/s back. I couldn't wait to hear what her album sounded like. To be honest, I still haven't exactly listened to her album. I constantly play, Rolling Hills, the song she performed on the BET Awards. Needless to say, her performance triggered a want and need to get the album.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie (The hood edition)

Good evening lovelies. Today is the first day since I started my new job that I left early. I work from 8am to 4pm and I am usually at work at 7:30am and the last to leave (6:30pm). Today I left at 4:25. I was extremely excited and hot from DC's 90+ degree weather. I had the idea in my head to test out my new blender. The blender is about  a few days old and I had my sights on making a smoothie (Margaritas and what have you will come a little later). So I went to my local grocery store and bought two containers of frozen sliced strawberries with sweetner added to it, three bananas and plain yogurt. I had the idea that wouldn't need ice if I used frozen strawberries and I was right. I put everything in the blender and blended it until I thought it was ready. I placed it in a huge cup with a straw and I am currently attacking. I am excited to make such a good drink in such hot weather. It is extra smooth.

Ingredients
1 bag (16oz.) of frozen strawberries
1 banana
2 cups of plain yogurt
(Makes 4 cups)

1. Dump contents into blender
2. Blend until smoothe
3. Serve

Assed out (Literally)

Morning. I am trying to get an early start on writing today because I feel (fingers crossed) that my trip to Long Island will be action packed. Yesterday, was my second day of work and Christmas in July might I add. I received everything under the sun. I got a computer (an ultra thin Dell), a blackberry, my uniform shirts, a Timbuk2 laptop bag, a disk drive ( for CDs), and a swag bag specifically for the place that I work. Besides being all excited about the gifts, my overall job training was awesome. At the end of the day, we had a scavenger hunt of the Anacostia neighborhood. We were given our clue sheets and we were off. We had to figure out 4 questions that had a deciphering code. Letters from the solved riddles went to numbers that would spell out a location. I drop off my belongs to start and sprint out of the door to find my partners. Because I know DC pretty well (riding the Metrobus and train), I was shotgun. I opened the door to the vehicle and tried to sit down fast. I heard the most horrid noise and had a breeze on my ass. In my surprised face, I grazed my hand across my behind and felt the split of my khaki Zara pants. I was mortified. My partners heard the whole thing. Over their giggles, I had to think of a plan of how I would complete the task at hand. I decided to continue to sit in the front of the car but just be personable to ask the people of Anacostia questions so we could find answers. Before I the task was over I did however become a backseat driver trying to decipher our task. When I figured it out, we raced to our destination thinking we were the first team but in actuality we were third. We won ice cream pops, work shorts, and an early dismissal. I had one of my co-workers drive me home. To cover up my embarrassment, she allowed me to use her old waitressing apron to cover my ass. I made jokes about taking orders and laughed at my mishap to prevent from crying. LOL

Beyonce- 4 Review

So as many of you may know, King Beyonce has released her fourth studio album titled "4". Beyonce has taken a hiatus from music and has taken more control of her life by letting go of her father/manager Matthew Knowles, and trying to reinvent her brand. If you are on the internet as much as I am you would also know that her album was leaked. Like some of the stans, I took a listen to what material the King had. " Girls" was a booming single. At first listen, I did not like it but however it seems when videos come out, the song sky rockets to number 1. "Girls" was no different. It did not help that I am a dancer. So this song makes me feel all bubbly inside. "1+1" which I heard her sing live, caught me from day one. I was actually singing it when Carly walked through the door. Dramatics and all, she asked me to sing a different song. I love that song and passionate about it. Now on to these other songs...Ummmm. I was not impressed with some of the material that was on her album. I know you are thinking " Who the hell are you?" but I feel that as a consumer I can voice what I took away from experiencing the King.

Notable songs (in my opinion)
I Care- Rock & Roll Feel
Best I Never Had- Anthem of making the best decision of losing a counterpart
Party- song for party animals with a smooth groove (Carly only likes this song)
BEYONCE - PARTY ft Andre3000 [SPEEDED UP] by TAUReanFilez.blogspot.com
Rather Die Young- sounds like a Earth, Wind and Fire sample
Start Over- readjusting feelings/behaviors when in love
Countdown- LOVE THIS SONG!!! The arrangements are incredible. A lot is going on.
End of Time- LOVE THIS SONG!!! This song sounds like a Gloria Estefan track. Carly says it sounds like "Girls".

In no way shape or form, am I going to dive into my dislikes for this album. I think other people have that one. If you heard the album, what did you think?

Beyonce- Year of 4

Tags: MTV Shows
King Beyonce gives her fans a taste of what her year of being a homebody was like. She also gives her fans insight into her creative process.

Marsha Ambrosius- Late Nights Early Mornings

I know I am late posting this video but I am glad I had the opportunity to watch it. As much as I love Marsha Ambrosius, her album just did not cut  it for me. I listened to three songs in particular and this song  was one of them. I liked the whole Prince vibe when I listened to it. And might I add that the sexual content of the song also made me girlishly giggle. When looking at the video, besides staring at Marsha's clothes (white jumpsuit and the black and white striped shirt) and the gorgeous man she has her love interest, I was confused at first glance not understanding the symbols above the characters' heads. By the second viewing, the song had a totally different meaning. A song about a sweaty love making session turned into a safe sex lesson. It seems as if Marsha is bringing out her inner advocate for such issues as suicide, indifference (Far Away) and showing that it is cool to have sex as long as it is protected sex. The video has an interesting spin to thinking of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. It seems to be displaying "Don't have unprotected sex. If you happen to do it, get tested".  I won't be suprised if I hear this song or see her face for condoms in the near future.

Embarking on a new journey

Today was my first day at work... or may I say a career. I know I am extremely secretive about what I do for a living but I think it's for my best interest. Today was orientation. I met so many different people. I am ready for my new journey to begin. YAY!!!

Chicago

Chicago Transit
Hey gurlies. As always I come back to posting days after I have been somewhere or notice that I have neglected the followers that ChimiandCarly has. I never mean to be late at posting but sometimes life happens. Last week, I had the opportunity of visiting Chicago. This was my second time in Chicago but a very different visit. To accompany me, my friend Ky'Osha aka KyWilli came along for the festivities. We had booked this trip WAAAAYYYY in advance and finally would be able to kick back and enjoy the festivities. We booked the flight and hotel for the estimated price of $458, which was a complete steal. The weekend we decided to go happened to be one of the most POPPIN' weekends in Chicago. We went down originally for the Taste of Chicago and to celebrate Ky'Osha's 24th birthday. When we got there we found so much more to do... Chicago Pride, fashion show, and a grand prize.
Chicago Theater
Day 1 (Thursday): When we first got to Chicago, we gathered our belongings and set off to take the train. On my handy dandy Iphone, there is this application I used (HopStop) that made me feel as if I was a native all weekend. I was able to plan trips in advance and save them as a reference. So, from Midway Airport we hopped on the Orange line and got off on Roosevelt, to search for our hotel, Essex Inn. Essex Inn, was in a perfect area. Right in the Loop and across the street from Grant Park, Essex was the perfect pick. When we dropped off our stuff, we set out to find a CVS or a local drug store since I had to throw out my hair oil (8oz.) and my facial wash (4oz.) which were over the limit. When we found the drugstore, we decided to see what else the area had to offer. We walked up one block and ended up on State Street. Finding State Street was like opening up a can of worms. State Street was like retail heaven. It had every store I could imagine on one strip. Zara, H&M, Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Aldo, Forever 21, and the list goes on. I think we went to every store. About 4 hours later, we finally went to Tamarind, an Asian fusion restaurant to get sushi. The decor in Tamarind was very cute. After our lovely dinner, in a fat girl moment we went next door to Harold's the local chicken spot. Harold's was calling our name when we first went past going to the CVS. When we walked in Harold's there was a sea of men in Black and Gold. Men in suits, ties and bowties filled the establishment. Of course Ky'osha thought she was in heaven. We found out it was the Alpha (A Phi A)convention. We ordered a three piece and left to go back to the hotel. Back at the hotel we had a domestic mishap next door to us that required authorities. I had to be a whistleblower in this situation for safety purposes. Once I called down to the front desk, security came upstairs and knocked on the door. When that was taken care of, we were able to sleep.

My Last Day at work

Friday was my last day at my job. Like many of my posts had stated, I have been looking for other opportunities. I always wondered what my purpose in life would be. I am in the right profession but where I was, I was beginning to get bored because of my position and often seeked more of a leadership position. Three weeks ago, I had an interview and received the position on the spot. It was hard to come up to my supervisor without tears in my eyes to tell her I was moving on. I love my supervisor dearly. She hugged me back and told me she was proud and said she knew I would get the position. It was hard to write my letter of resignation. I looked to google for answers because it was hard to put into words why I was leaving or the fact that I couldn't think because I was still in shock that I was leaving. This place is what I called my job after I was pink slipped. I built relationships, improved my craft, and touched a few lives as they did mine.

Thrifting Thursdays

Good Morning. So in order to make a comeback of posting, I am adding everything that I did the week prior and weeks to come so I can be on top of everything. Thursday, (June 16) I went to the Thrift Store. It felt like forever because I haven't been in a long time. I got off of work at 3:30pm that day and decided to venture out. A train and bus ride later, I was at Unique Thrift/Value Village. I walk in and there is a bunch of commotion. I soon realize that it was a 25% off day at the thrift store as long as one had the discount card. I have a card but of all days I left it at home nor could I apply for one to get the percentage off. In my sadness, I glanced at the jewelry and made my way back to the clothing. The way the thrift store is set up, it looks like a department store. Children's and men's clothes are at the front and women have the large section in the back. I walked all around Unique Thrift and bought only a black clutch for $1.99.

Frank Ocean- Novacane

Gotta Love Frank Ocean. I did a post on him prior just to admire him. He's finally been signed to Def Jam and will release his mixtape Nostalgia ULTRA on the label. I'm excited about his new deal and he will have new songs added upon the mixtapes release. Novacane, started the whole movement or interest in Frank Ocean for Carly and I. Her music friend at work told her to check him out and a few months later, I hear Frank on the radio and people besides Carly and I are digging him.

I like the video's imagery. I can actually see the effects of the Novacane. The smoke images are also dope. Enjoy!!!

Born this Way- Lady Gaga

Fist pump....
To keep with the LGBT theme, I decided to post "Born this way" by Gaga. I mean I hated this song just like any other song I hear a million times. I guess it takes one million and one for me to appreciate the song. A friend and I have been singing this song to death. I have not idea how the words go, I just sing. She told me that the dancing in this video was divine. I had to view it for myself. Enjoy!!!
Lady Gaga: Born This Way, Directed by Nick Knight, SHOWstudio.com from SHOWstudio on Vimeo.
I think I just like the song. The video was a little weird for me. I'm not exactly a Little Monster but I do appreciate Gaga for the artist she is. Whenever I hear this song I think of Vogue or watching the most ultimate fist pump.

Capital Pride

Morning. I know I haven't posted in about a week. I have been busy preparing for my last day at work (post coming). Last weekend (June 11), I went to the Capital Pride parade in DC. Like I had stated prior, I am a gay enthusiast or maybe I should use the word supporter. I support the gay movement. People may have their negative opinions of gays but I befriend them. When I got to the parade it was over. I missed the parade messing with my friend. Though I had missed all of the paraders, it seemed as if the event was not over. In Dupont Circle people were still partying. People were hanging out around and in the fountain. Women had their boobs exposed (legal in DC) and people were being regular old gay. Overall, I enjoyed myself with my band of lesbians. We walked around and I was encouraging my friend to talk to females. As she would reject passerbys, I would laugh because their approach was very similar to a males and even maybe a little more respectful. More photos after the jump...

Square Biz

Good morning and Happy Friday all!
I am getting ready for work and can't help but feel obligated to these dry ass work clothes. Just last night I was tellin Chimi how square I feel when I have to go to work. I feel like I am in a box, trapped by black and grey slacks and whatever color blouse I wear. Most times, a cardigan is my saving grace.
What is more is that the place that I work is retail. Being a department store that has cheapened the merchandise it gets in, I don't feel like the dress code should be as strict as it is. After all, where I work is not a Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, nor Neiman Marcus. Anyhow, I have to find a way to step out of this box. Having tattoos isn't very helpful, but they're mine and I wouldn't trade them (laser them off), so I work around them. Its almost summer and less is better, but I have to consider professionalism and this stupid dress-code. Perhaps this is a challenge that myself and others can follow: Dressing cool, professional, and out of the box. Now I know Chimi did a professional attire challenge, but she didn't have a strict dress code to follow. Maybe she could help me out. Hmmm...

This Goes Out To You!

Well, today is another day of celebration! My baby sister Janee' is graduating from ACT College. Graduating from the Dental Assisting Program, I hope that she can build a career of greatness. I am so proud of her and I hope she is proud of herself.
Now, this graduation is slow, drab and needs to pick up the pace. Janee' has a wonderful support system waiting to marvel at her as she steps on that stage and gets her degree/certificate. Its almost 7pm and kids are getting restless, stomachs are growling and cameras are ready. Despite the lack of preparation, we here to celebrate Nado! Congrats lil sis!

Super and Sticky

Good morning!
I am feeling up to posting, so lemme tell you about yesterday's fun. After seeing my cousin graduate, I got a chance to hang with my youngest sister. We went to Super Nails. I haven't been there in ages (one of my fave nail tech's, Helen, reminded me of this). We both got our nails and toes done.
Now of course while in the nail salon there is, more often than not, shennanigans and foolery goin on. First up, a "sista big bone" walks in. When asked what she needs, she claims her doctor said she could no longer get pedicures. However, she wanted someone to polish her feet. I think that's a bit gross (someone polishin ur dirty, black feet without havin washed them). The nail tech agreed and sent her on her way.
Next, three "chica big bones" came in to get there pedicures. Now, when I go to a nail salon and become familiar with a good nail tech, I try to go to the same person. This one Latina said it didn't matter who did her feet. Hence, the rookie of the shop, a male nail tech, took her and did her pedicure. Never once did she express her dislike of the service until he finished and asked her what polish. I felt it was her fault she got set up. They talked to the owner of the shop like they'd been there before and knew who they wanted. She said it didn't matter and in the end she was dissatisfied and had to get her fat toes re-done.
Then, we have four people come and try to sell everything from perfume, socks, Muslim oil, to Oriental fans. (Thank You, but nooooo thank u!)
After the nail salon, my sister and I went to Sticky Rice. Gosh, I love it at this restaurant! I was surprised and happy she liked her dishes and mine. We grubbed on tater tots with their special sauce, California Rolls (made with real lump crabmeat), Mongolian Beef with Udon noodles, and Curry Fried Rice with Shrimp. Let's just say after paying and getting to-go boxes, we were walking in slow motion, lol. All in all, this weekend has been pretty decent

Cheers to the graduate!

Hey All!
Today is a marvelous day. My baby Tia graduated from high school. I am amazed and so very proud of her! I actually started tearing up when she made her speech and then came down the steps. The look of completion and accomplishment never looked so good! '>Post

Beyonce: Full Throttle

[source]

For some apparent reason when Beyonce went on a hiatus, my focus became Rihanna. Though the two artists resignate differently in my mind, Beyonce is taking back what was hers. The way I see it is she let people shine for a few before she leaped back to the stage. Beyonce is everywhere. In recent news, B is covering Dazed and Confused. She looks uber tough in her photos. Real bad ass. I like this for her. Shedding the bumblegum pop persona for a more edgier image.

So to commemorate this joyous occasion, I am posting some of the funniest videos made by gay men. Coochieness is a hot mess. Carly and I was singing this song this morning so I had to post it. I hope you dolls enjoy it as much as me.

Influence

Last night, the dude had asked me "What is the most contagious thing in the world?"  Of course with me being all sappy I said Love. He shook his head and stated it was "an idea". He said " Once an idea is displayed, it catches on." When I actually thought about it, it made a whole lot of sense. Ideas can be extremely influential. I am seeing now that other people's ideas are what I mold to make my own. So then the overarching question becomes "Am I as original as I present myself to be?" Ask yourself the same.

My first pair of TOMS

Yesterday was a very exciting day at my job. Let's just say that we had a visit from very special lady thats husband is the HNIC. I'll just keep that for what it is. Yesterday, I worked a very long shift and got off early. Before going to see the Louder than a Bomb, the dude and I parked the car and walked to Georgetown. That was so the wrong idea. I had on some yellow open toed flats that were killing my feet along the cobblestone pavement. I was walking extremely slow and decided to stop in Urban Outfitters. The first thing I looked for was the TOMS section. I picked a pair of red shoes, paid and snailed out of the store. I walked to Old Glory, a Southern BBQ spot and put them babies on. After we grubbed (mainly him. I had lemonade) we made our way back to the theater. I was so excited about my TOMS that I have them on as I write this. My feet are in heaven. I'm even contemplating on buying some other ones.
