My Last Day at work

Friday was my last day at my job. Like many of my posts had stated, I have been looking for other opportunities. I always wondered what my purpose in life would be. I am in the right profession but where I was, I was beginning to get bored because of my position and often seeked more of a leadership position. Three weeks ago, I had an interview and received the position on the spot. It was hard to come up to my supervisor without tears in my eyes to tell her I was moving on. I love my supervisor dearly. She hugged me back and told me she was proud and said she knew I would get the position. It was hard to write my letter of resignation. I looked to google for answers because it was hard to put into words why I was leaving or the fact that I couldn't think because I was still in shock that I was leaving. This place is what I called my job after I was pink slipped. I built relationships, improved my craft, and touched a few lives as they did mine.

My last day was bittersweet. I was surprised by some of my co-workers with a party, flowers, and balloons. I recieved cards that made me cry. It was a good time. After I left work, Carly met me and we waited for the dude. We were going to Policy, a bar that my friend suggested. I got there extremely late because the car was parked on Massachusetts Avenue and the venue was on  T Street. Only a few people came which was fine with me. I had people around me that cared enough to show up. After about an hour at Policy, we left and went to Sticky Rice a staple on H Street. We had to wait about an hour for seating and had drinks at Fruit Bat a new spot on H Street. When we finally were called to Sticky Rice we enjoyed the cuisine and walked to Little Miss Whiskeys. I love Little Miss Whiskeys but it was wack on Friday. Usually it has good music but my friends had left after 2 songs. LOL After they left, Carly, the dude and I stayed another 15 minutes before we were headed back to the flat. Overall, my day was interesting. I cried and had people that cared around me. My last day was special.
